A.S. Everill

Hey friends, I’m Adam. Most people write these author bios in the third person, but for the sake of authenticity, here I am.

I started my creative life at thirteen, carrying a little black book everywhere I went. It filled quickly with poems, screenplay ideas, and song lyrics. From the beginning, I held two big dreams: to make an impact in international development, and to pursue the creative arts. I chose the first path, cofounding Equal Playing Field in 2012 to prevent violence against women and children in Papua New Guinea—a source of deep pride and purpose.

That dream eventually led me back to the other. Looking for ways to fund more programs in high-need communities, I started Studio Gyris in 2021. Born from a story I wrote for my children, it grew into an epic fantasy world, a screenplay, an online community, and digital art collections. The world even attracted seed funding for a video game proof of concept. Despite an exciting early build, the project ended when funds ran out.

As hard as that was, I couldn’t let the world go. I knew that if I was ever going to see this world onscreen, I would need to create the source material worthy of the next great fantasy saga. And so, from screenplays and outlines into novels, the saga I now call The Dream Gyris.

I spend a lot of time with my co-author—the bush. I run and hike thousands of kilometres a year, much of it exploring where few have tread. The world of the Dream Gyris is rooted in the chaotic harmony of nature. In mycelium networks and ancient forests. In the wildness I see reflected in the landscapes I’ve been blessed to enjoy. They’re places where imagination and grit collide, and where the lessons of pain, resilience, and hope, crystallise into something bigger than myself.
